Switching things up

So, I have been following my strength and conditioning program for just on 3 months now, I’ve made reasonable progress toward to strength goals for the year.  The trouble is I’m getting a little bit bored with the same workouts every week, that is why I have decided to switch things up a bit and do a new training program for 6 weeks.

I’ve decided to do 6 weeks of barbell complex workouts.

What is a barbell complex some of you may ask, well an easy to explain it is that it is like circuit training, you have a set of exercises to complete in a specific order, it is different from traditional circuit training because you don’t rest between exercises and you do all of the exercises with weight in your hands.

So far my strength and conditioning has been mostly focused on the strength aspect, this new programme will focus on strength, endurance and cardio conditioning.  I'll be starting off using the standard Olympic bar which weighs 20kg and then adding to the bar each week.  The aim of the barbell complex is to complete each round without putting the bar down, I will be aiming to add weight to the bar each week but the main focus will be on completing each workout as it is designed and with good form.
