Cleaning up

Cleaning up

It's been a while since I was strict in my clean eating, I've been doing this long enough that the sensible part of my brain tells me that falling off the waggon is not worth it and I will regret any significant shift away from my healthy diet.  I hold true when it comes to pasta, rice, bread, and sugar – these are avoided at all costs, but I still allow milk, cheese, and fruit into my diet.

Recently I've found myself unable to exercise (thank you torn Achilles' tendon), as a result, I've found my diet slipping, I've found it harder to stay on track without having exercise, this has left me feeling sluggish, unmotivated and tired. Many people will relate, you get into a vicious circle - the less you do, the less you want to do and the move crappy you feel

With my ankle finally on the mend and eight weeks of no exercise to make up for, I've decided that 30 days of strict clean eating will help get me back on track and feeling better.

For the next 30 days, I will

·         Not eat any processed foods

·         Not eat any grains

·         Not eat any wheat

·         Not eat any sugar

·         Limit my fruit intake - 2 pieces a day

·         Limit my dairy intake - no more than 450ml milk per day

·         Drink a minimum of 2 litres of water a day

·         Reduce my coffee intake

·         Exercise at least once a day for 20 minutes

·         Sleep for at least 7 hours each night

I’m going to start rehab for my ankle and hopefully will be back to real workouts at the end of the 30 days.  I’ll post our food plan at the end of each week and post photos of meals and any cheats to keep myself honest #keepmehonest

If you feel like joining in feel free, please let me know how you get on and you’re doing for #keepitcleanjanuary
